Ask Gideon is not a law firm, does not provide legal representation, and is not a substitute for advice from a licensed attorney.
2. No Attorney-Client Relationship
Use of Ask Gideon does not create an attorney-client relationship with Ask Gideon, any owner, employee, contractor, vendor, affiliated person, attorney, or law firm.
Submitting a question to Ask Gideon, receiving a response, subscribing to Ask Gideon, communicating through CorrLinks, or communicating with platform staff does not create an attorney-client relationship.
If a user separately retains an attorney or law firm outside of Ask Gideon, that separate relationship is governed by the separate written engagement agreement with that attorney or law firm. Ask Gideon itself does not create that relationship.
3. No Legal Advice or Court Representation
Ask Gideon provides general legal information, issue spotting, and practical guidance. Ask Gideon does not provide individualized legal advice, does not provide legal representation, does not enter an appearance in court, does not file pleadings, does not contact courts or agencies on a user's behalf, and does not replace individualized advice from a licensed attorney.
Users should consult a qualified attorney before making major legal decisions, filing court documents, waiving rights, missing deadlines, admitting facts, withdrawing claims, entering pleas, or taking action that could affect legal rights.
4. No Urgent Deadline Reliance
Users should not rely on Ask Gideon for urgent court deadlines, emergency filings, imminent appeal deadlines, imminent Section 2255 deadlines, immediate BOP deadlines, emergency medical issues, safety threats, disciplinary-hearing emergencies, or other time-sensitive matters.
Users remain responsible for tracking and meeting all legal, court, administrative, institutional, and personal deadlines.
Ask Gideon does not guarantee same-day review, emergency review, immediate delivery, or immediate response.
5. AI Limitations
Ask Gideon uses AI-assisted systems and controlled knowledge resources. Responses may be incomplete, incorrect, outdated, overbroad, or not applicable to a user's specific facts, jurisdiction, facility, judge, case posture, or legal circumstances.
Ask Gideon may rely on the facts provided by the user. Incomplete, inaccurate, or unclear facts may produce incomplete or inaccurate responses.
Users should verify important information before relying on it and should consult qualified counsel before making major legal decisions.
6. No Guarantees
Ask Gideon does not guarantee release from custody, sentence reduction, successful Section 2255 relief, successful appeal, successful compassionate release, successful certificate of appealability, application of First Step Act credits, halfway house placement, home confinement placement, RDAP eligibility or credit, administrative-remedy success, court action, BOP action, or any particular legal, prison, custody, reentry, BOP, sentence-credit, court, or personal outcome.
Ask Gideon provides information and issue spotting only.
7. Account Registration and User Responsibility
Users agree to provide accurate account, subscription, contact, inmate, and family-contact information.
Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of account credentials and for activity occurring through their account.
Users may not share login credentials, misuse another person's account, impersonate another person, submit false information, or use Ask Gideon for unauthorized purposes.
Ask Gideon may suspend or terminate accounts for nonpayment, misuse, suspected fraud, abusive conduct, security concerns, violation of these Terms, or operational reasons.
8. Subscription Plans, Billing, and Question Limits
Ask Gideon may offer monthly, yearly, inmate-only, family-access, or other subscription plans.
The Inmate Plan is $15 per month or $125 per year unless otherwise stated at checkout. The Inmate Plan is available only through approved inmate communication methods, such as CorrLinks or other approved institutional communication systems where available. The Inmate Plan does not provide direct access to the Ask Gideon website, online dashboard, billing portal, question history, or family-user account features.
The Inmate + Family Plan is $20 per month or $150 per year unless otherwise stated at checkout. The Inmate + Family Plan may include website access for one approved family contact, subject to subscription terms, account rules, and platform availability.
The subscription plan selected by the user controls pricing, access, and monthly question limits. Subscription pricing, features, and question limits are displayed on the website or at checkout and may be updated from time to time.
Unless otherwise stated at checkout, monthly plans renew each month until canceled, yearly plans renew each year until canceled if yearly plans are offered, unused questions do not roll over, monthly question limits reset at the start of each billing cycle, a new substantive issue may count as a new question, and a reasonable clarification or follow-up about the same issue may be treated as part of the same question at Ask Gideon's discretion.
Ask Gideon may refuse, limit, or separately price excessive, abusive, duplicative, unusually complex, or outside-scope requests. Subscription pricing, features, and question limits may be updated from time to time. Changes will apply prospectively unless otherwise stated.
9. Cancellation and Refunds
To cancel an Ask Gideon subscription, email support@askgideon.net before the next renewal date. Include the subscriber's name, the incarcerated user's name and inmate or register number, and the email address associated with the subscription. Cancellation stops future renewal charges. Unless otherwise stated, access continues through the end of the billing period already paid.
Subscription fees are generally non-refundable once access has been activated, except where required by law or where Ask Gideon determines, in its discretion, that a billing error occurred.
Ask Gideon is not required to provide refunds or credits for unused questions, unused account time, facility lockdowns, inability to access CorrLinks, institutional restrictions, or failure to use the service.
10. CorrLinks, TRULINCS, and Institutional Access
Ask Gideon may allow inmates to communicate through CorrLinks, TRULINCS, prison email, institutional mail, or other correctional communication systems where available.
CorrLinks, TRULINCS, prison email, prison mail, and other institutional communication systems may be monitored, retained, reviewed, restricted, delayed, blocked, or unavailable.
Ask Gideon does not control BOP, state prison systems, private detention facilities, county jails, CorrLinks, TRULINCS, institutional messaging systems, facility lockdowns, message delays, delivery failures, monitoring, or access restrictions.
Users should not use monitored correctional communication systems for urgent, privileged, emergency, or highly sensitive communications unless they have confirmed the communication method is appropriate.
Institutional restrictions, lockdowns, monitoring, delays, or blocked communications do not automatically entitle a user to a refund.
11. Acceptable Use
Users may not use Ask Gideon to submit false, misleading, fraudulent, or abusive information; harass, threaten, intimidate, or abuse any person; seek assistance committing, concealing, or furthering a crime or fraud; seek assistance bypassing lawful correctional rules or security procedures; submit unnecessary private information about third parties; share account credentials or resell access; copy, scrape, reverse engineer, disrupt, overload, or misuse the platform; attempt to access nonpublic systems, prompts, workflows, data, or administrative tools; use Ask Gideon as an emergency service; or use Ask Gideon in violation of law, prison rules, institutional policy, or these Terms.
Ask Gideon may refuse to answer questions, limit access, suspend accounts, or terminate accounts for violations of these Terms.
12. User Content
Users are responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and legality of information they submit.
By submitting information to Ask Gideon, the user authorizes Ask Gideon to process that information for purposes of operating the service, generating responses, maintaining account records, providing support, improving the platform, preventing misuse, and complying with legal or business obligations.
Users should not submit information they are not authorized to provide.
13. Intellectual Property

Ask Gideon is not responsible for the independent acts, omissions, outages, policies, or terms of third-party providers.

For medical emergencies, threats of harm, mental-health crises, safety emergencies, financial advice, tax advice, or other urgent matters, users should contact appropriate licensed professionals, emergency services, facility staff, or other proper authorities.
16. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ask Gideon, its owners, operators, affiliates, employees, contractors, vendors, and service providers are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive, exemplary, or similar damages.
This limitation includes, but is not limited to, alleged damages related to missed deadlines, denied motions, denied appeals, denied grievances, denied administrative remedies, denied sentence credits, denied BOP placement, institutional decisions, facility restrictions, message delays, reliance on incomplete information, user-provided factual errors, platform outages, AI limitations, or third-party service interruptions.
Ask Gideon's total liability for any claim related to the service shall not exceed the amount paid by the user to Ask Gideon during the three months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
17. Indemnification
To the fullest extent permitted by law, users agree to indemnify and hold harmless Ask Gideon, its owners, operators, affiliates, employees, contractors, vendors, and service providers from claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from the user's misuse of the service, violation of these Terms, submission of false or unauthorized information, violation of law, or infringement of another person's rights.
18. Suspension and Termination
Ask Gideon may suspend, restrict, or terminate access at any time for nonpayment, misuse, suspected fraud, abusive conduct, security concerns, violation of these Terms, operational reasons, or discontinuation of the service.
Termination or suspension does not automatically entitle a user to a refund.
19. Changes to the Service or Terms
Ask Gideon may update these Terms or modify the service from time to time. Updated Terms will be posted on this page with a new effective date or last-updated date.
Continued use of Ask Gideon after changes are posted means the user accepts the updated Terms.

21. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect to the fullest extent permitted by law.
