Clear answers about access, billing, privacy, CorrLinks, and information boundaries.
What is Ask Gideon?
Ask Gideon is an AI-assisted information service designed to help inmates and families better understand legal-information, prison, BOP, post-conviction, reentry, and practical issues. It provides general information and issue spotting only. It is not a law firm and does not create an attorney-client relationship.
Is Ask Gideon a law firm?
No. Ask Gideon is not a law firm, does not provide legal representation, and does not replace advice from a licensed attorney.
Does using Ask Gideon mean an attorney represents me?
No. Using Ask Gideon does not create an attorney-client relationship. If a user needs legal representation, that must be handled through a separate written agreement with a licensed attorney or law firm.
What kinds of questions can Ask Gideon help with?
Ask Gideon is especially geared toward legal and prison-related issues, including sentence issues, First Step Act questions, compassionate release developments, habeas and post-conviction matters, prison rights issues, BOP questions, detainers, pending charges, and related concerns. It may also help with broader factual and practical questions, including reentry-oriented topics such as education, employment, housing, licensing, and general research questions.
Can Ask Gideon help with new laws or sentencing changes?
Yes. Ask Gideon is designed to help explain current developments such as new laws, Sentencing Commission changes, new cases, and BOP policy developments, and to help identify whether those developments may matter based on the facts of a person's case.
Can Ask Gideon draft legal documents?
Ask Gideon may help users understand what a document is, what information is commonly included, and how to organize facts for administrative or procedural communications. Ask Gideon is not intended to generate complete fact-specific court pleadings, briefs, motions, petitions, complaints, or filings that require legal judgment or representation.
Does the inmate-only plan include website access?
No. The inmate-only plan is designed for incarcerated users and is available only through approved inmate communication methods, such as CorrLinks or other approved institutional communication systems where available. The inmate-only plan does not provide direct access to the Ask Gideon website, online dashboard, billing portal, question history, or family-user account features. Families who want website access should select the plan that includes an approved family contact.
How much does Ask Gideon cost?
The inmate-only plan is $15 per month or $125 per year. The inmate-plus-family plan is $20 per month or $150 per year.
How many questions are included?
The inmate-only plan includes up to 15 questions per month. The inmate-plus-family plan includes up to 25 questions per month total.
What counts as a question?
A question means one new substantive question or issue. A reasonable follow-up needed to clarify the same issue may, in Ask Gideon's discretion, be treated as part of the same question rather than as a separate question. Unused questions do not roll over from month to month. Ask Gideon reserves the right to address abusive, excessive, duplicative, or manipulative usage intended to evade the monthly question limit.
Do unused questions carry over?
No. Unused questions do not roll over from month to month.
Does adding the Ask Gideon email address in CorrLinks activate access?
No. Simply adding the Ask Gideon email address in CorrLinks does not activate access. Enrollment must first be completed, payment must be confirmed, and the subscription must be activated in the program records.
How do I cancel an Ask Gideon subscription?
To cancel an Ask Gideon subscription, email support@askgideon.net before the next renewal date. Include the subscriber's name, the incarcerated user's name and inmate or register number, and the email address associated with the subscription. Cancellation stops future renewal charges. Unless otherwise stated, access continues through the end of the billing period already paid.
Can my family use Ask Gideon too?
Yes, if the inmate is enrolled in the plan that includes one approved family contact.
What if I think I am already registered?
If you believe registration has already been completed but access is not active, write back with the inmate's full name, register number, and the name of the person who completed the signup so the account can be verified.

Ask Gideon may provide high-level general information about those topics, but it does not provide personalized investment advice, stock recommendations, crypto recommendations, or trading strategies.
