1. Information We Collect
Ask Gideon may collect information that users voluntarily provide, information necessary to operate subscriptions, and information generated through use of the platform.
Name, email address, mailing address, and account-registration information.
Inmate name, register number, facility, projected release date, custody information, case information, and related prison or court details when provided.
Family-contact information for family-access plans.
Subscription plan, billing status, payment history, and account activity.
Questions submitted to Ask Gideon.
Responses generated through Ask Gideon.
CorrLinks, email, text, or other communications sent to or from Ask Gideon.
Support requests and customer-service communications.
Login information, usage history, question history, browser/device information, IP address, system logs, and security logs.
Any documents, summaries, facts, or other information a user chooses to submit.
Users should submit only the information reasonably necessary for Ask Gideon to understand and respond to the question. Users should avoid submitting unnecessary Social Security numbers, full birth dates, financial account numbers, full medical records, or unrelated third-party private information unless specifically needed for the issue being addressed.
2. Payment Information
Ask Gideon may use third-party payment processors to handle subscription payments. Payment processors may collect and process billing information, payment-card information, and related transaction information under their own terms and privacy policies.
Ask Gideon does not intend to store full credit-card numbers unless expressly stated at checkout or required by the payment processor's technical process.
3. How We Use Information
Ask Gideon may use collected information to create, maintain, and manage user accounts; activate subscriptions and verify billing status; track monthly question limits; receive, process, and respond to user questions; provide AI-assisted legal information, prison-information support, post-conviction information, BOP-related information, reentry support, and practical assistance; communicate with inmates and family members; provide customer support; maintain records of account activity and service usage; improve platform functionality, service quality, internal workflows, and knowledge resources; detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, misuse, security issues, or policy violations; comply with legal, regulatory, billing, tax, accounting, and recordkeeping obligations; and protect the rights, safety, and interests of Ask Gideon, users, and others.
4. AI Processing and Service Providers
Ask Gideon may use artificial intelligence tools, software systems, hosting providers, payment processors, email systems, customer-support tools, security tools, analytics tools, and other vendors to operate and improve the platform.
Information submitted by users may be processed by these systems for the purpose of generating responses, maintaining accounts, tracking subscription usage, preventing misuse, improving service quality, and supporting platform operations.

5. No Attorney-Client Relationship
Use of Ask Gideon does not create an attorney-client relationship with Ask Gideon, any owner, employee, contractor, vendor, affiliated person, attorney, or law firm.
Ask Gideon is not a law firm and does not provide legal representation.
Information submitted through Ask Gideon is not guaranteed to be protected by the attorney-client privilege. Users should not submit privileged, confidential, urgent, or highly sensitive information unless they understand the risks of the communication method being used.
If a user separately retains an attorney or law firm outside of Ask Gideon, that separate relationship is governed by the separate written engagement agreement with that attorney or law firm. Ask Gideon itself does not create that relationship.
6. CorrLinks, TRULINCS, and Institutional Monitoring
Some inmates may communicate with Ask Gideon through CorrLinks, TRULINCS, institutional email, prison mail, or other correctional communication systems.
Users should understand that CorrLinks, TRULINCS, prison email, prison mail, telephone calls, and other correctional communication systems may be monitored, retained, reviewed, delayed, restricted, or blocked by correctional authorities.
Ask Gideon does not control BOP, state prison systems, private detention facilities, county jails, CorrLinks, TRULINCS, institutional email, facility lockdowns, message delays, monitoring, or access restrictions.
Users should not use CorrLinks, prison email, or other monitored correctional systems for urgent, privileged, emergency, or highly sensitive communications unless they have confirmed that the communication method is appropriate.
7. How Information May Be Shared
Ask Gideon may share user information only as reasonably necessary to operate the platform, provide services, comply with obligations, protect rights, or support the user's account.
Information may be shared with platform administrators; Ask Gideon employees, contractors, support staff, or service providers; AI, software, hosting, database, communication, security, and technology vendors; payment processors and billing vendors; customer-support vendors; compliance, accounting, legal, or professional advisors; government agencies, courts, correctional institutions, or other authorities if required by law, subpoena, court order, regulation, or lawful request; and successor entities in connection with a merger, sale, acquisition, restructuring, or transfer of business assets.

8. Security
Ask Gideon uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect user information.
However, no website, AI platform, email system, prison messaging system, payment system, or internet-based service can guarantee absolute security. Users understand that submitting information electronically involves risk.
9. Data Retention
Ask Gideon may retain account records, submitted questions, generated responses, billing records, support messages, communication history, security logs, and related records for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain account history, resolve disputes, enforce Terms of Service, comply with legal, tax, accounting, billing, and recordkeeping obligations, preserve evidence of communications, subscriptions, platform usage, and advertising content, and improve service quality and platform security.
Ask Gideon may retain certain records even after account cancellation where retention is reasonably necessary for legal, operational, billing, audit, compliance, security, or dispute-resolution purposes.
10. User Choices and Account Controls
Users may contact Ask Gideon to request correction of inaccurate account information, cancellation of a subscription, deactivation of an account, a copy of basic account information where feasible, or deletion of certain information subject to legal, billing, operational, security, and recordkeeping limitations.
Some information may not be deleted immediately or completely if retention is required or reasonably necessary for legitimate business, legal, security, or recordkeeping purposes.
11. Sensitive Information
Ask Gideon may receive sensitive information because users may ask about criminal cases, prison issues, medical-care access, disciplinary matters, immigration detainers, family circumstances, sentence calculations, and post-conviction issues.
Users should submit only information that is reasonably necessary for the question being asked. Users should avoid submitting unnecessary private information about themselves or third parties.
Ask Gideon does not sell sensitive user information.
12. Medical, Financial, Mental-Health, and Emergency Issues
Ask Gideon may provide general information about medical-care access, financial concepts, reentry planning, prison conditions, or other practical issues. However, Ask Gideon does not provide medical advice, mental-health counseling, emergency services, tax advice, financial advice, or investment advice.
Users should contact appropriate licensed professionals or emergency services for medical emergencies, threats of harm, mental-health crises, safety emergencies, financial advice, tax advice, or other urgent matters.
13. Children and Minors
Ask Gideon is not directed to children under 13. Users under 18 should use the service only with involvement from a parent, guardian, or legally authorized adult where applicable.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
Ask Gideon may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date or last-updated date.
Continued use of Ask Gideon after changes are posted means the user acknowledges the updated Privacy Policy.
